New Garage Door Installation in Toledo, OH

A new door makes sense when the old one costs more to keep alive than it is worth: rusted-through bottom sections, multiple cracked panels, a wood door that has started to rot, or a lightweight builder-grade door that dents every time a basketball hits it. Replacement is also the single biggest comfort upgrade for an attached garage in this climate. An uninsulated single-layer steel door does almost nothing against a January wind off the lake, and if there is a bedroom over the garage you feel it. We measure the opening, headroom and side room, talk through insulation and style honestly, and quote the door with everything that should be replaced with it — tracks, springs sized to the new door's weight, rollers, hinges and seals — instead of hanging a new door on worn-out hardware.

Sounds like your place?

Not sure what is wrong or what it should cost? If any of these sound familiar, tell us what the door is doing. We'll tell you what it probably is, and the tech confirms it and gives you the price before any work starts.

  • Several panels are cracked or creased
  • The garage is freezing and there is living space above or beside it
  • The door has been repaired three times in a few years
  • You are selling, and the garage door is the first thing buyers see

Safety first: don't force a failed door

If a spring is broken, a cable is loose, or the door is crooked or off its rollers, don't run the opener and don't pull the emergency release. The springs and cables carry the door's weight, and once they fail a few hundred pounds of door is held up by parts that weren't built for it. Keep people and pets clear, unplug the opener if it keeps trying, and call. Torsion springs are wound under heavy tension and are not a DIY job.

How It Works

From the first call to a door that works

1

Describe the Problem

Tell us what the door is doing — the noise, the gap in the spring, the cable on the floor. If the door is stuck open or hanging crooked, say so and it goes to the front of the line.

2

Diagnosis and a Price

The tech inspects the door, the hardware and the opener, shows you what failed, and gives you one price for the repair before starting.

3

Repaired On the Spot

Most repairs are finished in the same visit from parts on the truck. Springs are wound to your door's weight and worn related parts are pointed out, not slipped in.

4

Balanced and Tested

Before we leave the door is balanced so it holds halfway on its own, and the photo eyes and auto-reverse are tested with you watching.

Questions & Answers

New Garage Doors — FAQs

A basic non-insulated single door can start around $1,100 installed; an insulated two-car steel door commonly runs $1,800–$3,200; and carriage-house or custom doors go to $4,500 and up. Size, insulation, windows and style drive the price. See new garage door cost.

For an attached garage, especially with a bedroom above it, usually yes. Insulated doors are also stiffer, quieter and more dent-resistant. For a detached, unheated garage used only for storage, a non-insulated door is often fine.

A standard replacement is usually finished in about half a day: the old door and hardware come out, the new tracks, springs and sections go in, and the opener is adjusted to the new door's weight. Ordering the door itself can take one to a few weeks depending on style.

In almost every case, yes. Springs are sized to a specific door's weight, so the old ones won't balance the new door, and worn tracks and rollers would shorten the new door's life. A proper quote includes them.

Often it will, if it is in good shape and powerful enough for the new door. If the opener is old enough to lack photo eyes or is already struggling, replacing both at the same time saves a second visit.
