How Much Does a New Garage Door Cost in Toledo, OH?

A new garage door is a bigger purchase than most repairs and a smaller one than most remodels, and the price range is wide. Here is what drives it, what typical doors cost installed in 2026, and what a complete quote should include so you are comparing like with like.

Typical installed prices

DoorTypical installed price
Single (8×7 or 9×7), non-insulated steel$1,100 – $1,500
Single, insulated steel$1,300 – $2,000

Double, polystyrene-insulated steel$1,800 – $2,600
Double, polyurethane-insulated steel$2,200 – $3,200

Insulation and R-value

Garage doors come in three basic constructions:

  • Single-layer (non-insulated) — one steel skin. Lightest and least expensive, and it dents and flexes most easily.
  • Polystyrene-insulated — foam panels behind the steel skin, often with a back skin. Typically around R-6 to R-9.
  • Polyurethane-insulated — foam injected between two steel skins and bonded to them. Stiffer and quieter, typically around R-12 to R-18.

In a Toledo winter, the difference between an uninsulated door and an insulated one is very noticeable in an attached garage, and in the room above it. Past a mid-range R-value, though, the seals around the door usually matter more than more foam: a door with a gap at the floor or worn perimeter seals leaks far more cold air than its rating suggests. Insulated doors are also stiffer, so they hold up better to wind and the occasional basketball.

Style choices

Traditional raised-panel doors suit most of the subdivision homes around Sylvania, Holland and Perrysburg. Carriage-house designs, which look like swing-out doors but open overhead, suit older and more traditional houses such as those in Ottawa Hills and the Old West End. Modern flush and glass doors suit contemporary homes. Window inserts bring light into the garage but reduce privacy and slightly reduce the door's insulation.

What a complete quote should include

  • Measuring the opening, headroom, side room and depth before ordering
  • New tracks, rollers and hinges matched to the new door
  • New springs sized for the new door's weight (the old springs will not balance it)
  • Perimeter weather seal and bottom seal
  • Adjusting or reprogramming the opener for the new door
  • Removal and disposal of the old door and hardware

A low quote that leaves out springs and tracks is not a lower price; it is a different job.

When replacement makes sense

A new door is worth it when the door itself has failed: rust through the bottom section, several cracked or creased panels, a rotting wood door, or repeated repairs on a door that is past its useful life. If the panels are sound and the problem is springs, cables or the opener, repair is usually the better value. See repair or replace? and our new garage door installation page.

Questions & Answers

Frequently asked questions

Roughly $1,100–$2,000 for a single door, $1,500–$3,200 for a standard two-car steel door depending on insulation, and $3,000–$4,500 or more for carriage-house and premium doors.

For an attached garage in Northwest Ohio, usually yes, especially with a room above or beside it. Insulated doors are also stiffer, quieter and less prone to dents. For a detached storage garage, a non-insulated door is often enough.

Polystyrene-insulated doors typically fall around R-6 to R-9, and polyurethane-insulated doors around R-12 to R-18. For an attached garage with living space nearby, mid-range or better is a good target; beyond that, weather seals matter more than extra R-value.

Usually around half a day for a standard replacement. Ordering the door can take one to several weeks depending on the style and options.

It is one of the most visible parts of a home from the street, so it can noticeably improve curb appeal and buyer impressions. How much it adds to sale price varies by market and house.
